MDOG is thrilled to announce the opening of Manchester's dog park on Sunday, June 3rd. CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THE CELEBRATION. We are pleased with the progress of Phase 1 for the new dog park and are looking forward to its opening. While we know this experience is exciting for everyone who has waited for so long, please know there are aspects of the park that are not complete yet. Feel free to stop by and view the progress but please wait until the ok is given to play. There are still some fine details to be completed.
MDOG is looking for sponsors & vendors for the 5th Annual Manchester Dog Festival to be held on September 8th, 2012 from 10-3 (rain date: September 9th). The festival celebrates our canine citizens, creates awareness for responsible dog ownership, and helps to raise funds to promote canine recreational activities and programs like the festival itself
and Manchester’s dog park.
The festival, to be held on September 8th, 2012 from 10-3 (rain date: September 9th), hosts an estimated 500+ dog owners (with their dogs) and enthusiasts from all over, vendors of all kinds, educating fair goers about their products and services, exhibitors promoting canine educational materials, demonstrations representing doggie abilities, MDOG’s 5th Annual Recall Races, family-fun activities, educational materials promoting responsible dog ownership, a silent auction to raise funds for MDOG, & Manchester Recreation Department’s Bi-Annual K9 Kerplunk Dog Swim.
MDOG has officially signed an agreement with the town and is moving forward with building preparations. We had a small ground-breaking ceremony in mid-March for Phase 1 of the dog park. Our contractor is Knight & Sons Construction. We are opening the park in 2 phases. Phase 1 will eventually be the small dog area but will start off as the all dog park until phase 2 is built. We are planning to be completed in June 3 and have our grand opening at that time.
While we know everyone is excited about the dog park, there is more to construction than just the fencing. Once the fencing is up, we will be locking the gate until the park is complete. MDOG asks that dog owners respect that the project is not finished yet and wait until the gate is unlocked to enter the park. We will keep everyone updated.
MDOG is in need of volunteers now more than ever! While only contractors are permitted to complete construction on Town property, MDOG still needs to raise money, contact vendors, staff events, and more. Whether you are only able to help with a few hours once in a while or you can commit for a few hours once a week, we have a need and an appreciation for the value of your time. Many different volunteer opportunities are available.
